During the late 1980’s and early 1990’s the voices of Hip-Hop were starting to be heard across cultural and socio-economic lines bringing light to the street life. One of the crews that played a major voice in this era was the hip hop duo known as, Kid N’ Play.
Christopher Martin most popularly known as “Play” from the late 80s/early 90s Hip Hop duo, Kid N’ Play, is one of the iconic pioneers of the Hip Hop culture when it comes to music and dance! Christopher “Play” Martin along with co-member of the group, Christopher Reid formerly known as Kid, helped to pave the way and open doors to the social revolution of dance within the hip hop culture!
Outside of memorable lyrics and the group’s famous dances known as the Kick Step and the Funky Charleston, the group aided in bringing attention to the art and creativity of dance.
Classic films like ‘House Party’, ‘Class Act’ and even a popular animated 90s cartoon series based on the real life of the hip-hop duo, was just one of the many amazing creations behind the multi-talented group.
The New York native, Christopher Martin now has a new film documentary called, “ANDiDANCED” which is about the women and men who danced and helped to make a lot of the 80s - 90s rappers and singers performances exciting, and unforgettable. (ANDiDanced.com)
In the documentary, he plans to travel from city to city to speak with the dancers responsible for the videos, dance shows and images we enjoy til this very day. A few of the rap artists appearing in the documentary include, LL Cool J, NWA, Salt ‘n Pepa, MC Hammer, Kool Moe Dee, MC Lyte, Naughty By Nature, Queen Latifah, Big Daddy Kane, Heavy D, Slick Rick, Kid N’ Play, and a host of others!
The executive producers of the show are Christopher “Play” Martin and Cheryl “Salt” James. Producers are Shane Johnson and Donielle Artese.
Recently I had the honor and the pleasure of interviewing the Hip Hop icon, Christopher Martin on my radio show (Starrdom100Radio) and he discussed his journey into the hip hop culture as well as shed some light on his new film documentary, “ANDiDANCED.” As a 80s baby and true fan of Kid N’ Play, the experience was exciting! Take a brief look at a few excerpts from the interview below.
Tanisha Davis: Who was Christopher Martin before being known as “Play”? “Christopher Martin was an accident waiting to happen. Coming up in the streets of New York, you didn’t have the images or the inspiration that you have today, especially in Hip Hop because it didn’t exist. Matter of fact it was an era and a time believe it or not on this planet where Hip Hop didn’t exist, and when it did begin to come, it wasn’t even called Hip Hop. So I wasn’t really relating to what was happening in the schools, I was more attracted to what was happening in the streets because that’s what looked like success for a young black boy or teenager. I was attracted to a lot of the negative elements in the streets, and that was becoming my aspiration and inspiration. My father was doing his thing successfully or so I thought in the streets, so I wanted to be with him and then combine that with the images I was seeing in the movie theaters. I was just going to be the best, I guess, criminal I could be and I flirted with that, tampered with that, and thank God he used something that was eventually going to be called Hip Hop to save my life.”
Tanisha Davis: You have a new documentary film called “AndIDanced” tell me about that. “It’s something I have been working on for many years now, it took that long to be able to accomplish it. I have been traveling around the country and trying to find a lot of old friends to have great conversation with, which included many of the dancers who were responsible for the success of a lot of entertainers, rappers and singers……..It’s really just talking to them about how they started out in low budget videos and R&B videos that are now considered R&B & Hip Hop classics.”
Tanisha Davis: What are your thoughts on NBA player Lebron James doing a House Party remake? “I think it’s great. Lebron James has always shown nothing but love for Kid and I. It’s very apparent how much he loves the work that we have done. There have been times where he has even posted pictures of his two sons with haircuts that he did to recreate the looks of Kid N’ Play. We did an Allstate commercial with him at one time, so he’s a great person, and I know what he is trying to do and what he is doing with accomplishing and trying to make a difference in entertainment. So no, I have no problem with that at all. They say the highest form of flattery is imitation.”
Many of you know him from the New Edition movie that went viral in television ratings on BET!
Now he just landed another role to star as Bobby Brown again in the upcoming BET series, The Bobby Brown Story, which will be continued from the New Edition series. Hollywood is talking and actor Woody McClain is the highlighted young star trending in the media headlines!
Actor Woody McClain was
born in Charleston, South Carolina, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida before
moving to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue a career as a professional dancer. He
has since performed with numerous artists including Chris Brown and Fifth
Harmony. After excelling in his career as a professional dancer, he began
creating original social media content and noticed very quickly that he had a
gift for making people laugh. In fact, Woody signed with Kevin Hart's
production company, 'HartBeat Digital', in December 2015 to produce content
after his version of Hart's "Permission to Cuss" skit went viral and
caught Hart's attention. Woody's first venture into acting proved incredibly
successful when he was sent to audition for BET's The New Edition Story and
booked the lead role, playing Bobby Brown. He is in negotiations to reprise his
role as Bobby Brown in BET's Bobby Brown Story. Next up, he will be seen on the
big screen in Canal Street playing "MayMay," set to release in
February 2018. His upcoming projects also include a role in USA's series
"Unsolved," currently in production. Alongside his acting, Woody is
currently executive producing his own creation titled Stories with Kev. He has
teamed up with Kevin Hart for a streaming series in which he plays Kevin, based
on Hart's most iconic stories and stand-up bits. New episodes release every
Friday on Hart's #1-rated streaming video service, "Laugh Out Loud."

I need your help to support our homeless within the city of Mobile, Alabama, during the cold days ahead by donating to help me purchase scarfs, gloves and other items. Many have no way of staying warm during the winter months and some sadly even freeze to death. I know we can’t help everybody but if we can come together to help make some in the community warmer then that is a first step to helping save a life from the harsh winter nights. All donations will go towards purchasing scarfs, gloves, hats, blankets and food to give out. With your donation we can help keep many who have no where to go during the holidays to stay warm!
Thank You and I appreciate any donation no matter the size!
My goal is to have items ready to hand out by the first week of December. I believe we can reach this goal and bring some smiles to those who are often forgotten during the holidays.
Give a donation by clicking the link below & Please Share to help reach the goal! Thank You!

Tanisha D. Davis was born on February 29, 1984 in Mobile, Alabama. At only the young age of six, she found
herself growing up in and out of Foster Care homes and dealing with a host of
family issues. It was at the age of 13 that she made a decision to not allow
her childhood experiences to break her. She began discovering her passion for
writing and used that as a way to escape the harsh realities of her life and
reach others in the process. Tanisha attended the Mobile County Training Middle
School in Mobile, Alabama and was constantly recognized there for her gift to
write poetry and more. She was selected to perform her poetry daily during the
morning announcements and promoted to be in The Gifted Program for youth who
held a 4.0 grade average, as well as chosen to be a member of the National
Junior Honors Society. By high school, after
being placed back in Foster Care by a relative, Tanisha did not allow that to
stop her from reaching others in similar situations. At the age of 17, she served
one year as the President over the Gulf Coast Therapeutic Independent Living
Program, in Mobile, Alabama, which is designed to motivate teens who were
currently living in Foster Care, on how to live a successful life outside of
the system. At the age of 19, she went on to speak at Women’s Conferences in
local churches within her community.
After high school, Tanisha D. Davis
attended college at the University of South Alabama in pursuit of a degree in
Print Journalism and later transferred to Faulkner University, where she
obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. In 2011, she saw the joy in
continuing to encourage others and started her own blog called Starrdom100. The
blog grew to over 100 thousand viewers and led to her launching her own blog
radio show, which has covered topics on overcoming daily life issues as well as
featured Celebrity Interviews & more. Tanisha was determined more than ever to
spread her life triumph to the world and in 2013 she reached out to the
producers of the ‘Iyanla Fix My Life’ show to seek help with developing a
better relationship with her mother and siblings for closure. She received a phone call from one of the
Producers of the show who was interested in her story, however the show was not
able to take place because her mother did not desire to participate. During
this time she also reached out to find her biological father and was successful
after 28 years! Being a single mother with a young daughter growing up beside
her, Tanisha knew that she had to keep pushing.
In 2016 Tanisha Davis obtained a
writing position with Kontrol Magazine in Atlanta, Georgia as a Lifestyle
Writer. This opened more doors and by 2017, she soon found herself being asked
by a client all the way from New York to participate in her own film production
which consisted of flying out to Los Angeles, CA to film for Celebrities such
as, Hazel- E, Lil Fizz, Nikko London and more.
Little did she know that more clients
were eyeing her in the process; Actor/Comedian Brandon T. Jackson reached out
to her to come aboard to personally assist him with his youth foundation,
designed to assist youth all across the US that come from low income
environments.
Although early parts of her life have
been a devastating struggle, Tanisha D. Davis has continued to pursue her dreams
and create open paths for those who desire to do the same. She is the true
definition and example of a woman on a mission to help others see that life’s
tragedies do not have to stop you from being the best that you desire to be! This year in May, Tanisha D. Davis will recieve an Honorary Award from Celebrity PR Jakeem Smith in Atlanta, GA. She will be one of the seven selected women to be awarded for being a strong woman of empowerment who has managed to overcome life's struggles. Among the women being awarded beside her will be, Celebrities Kandi Burruss of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Yandy Smith of Love & Hip Hop: NYC, Keshia Knight Pulliam of The Cosby Show, Rasheeda Walace of Love & Hip Hop: ATL, and more!

Too often you are taught to stay when the pain is becoming unbearable!
How many people deal with the confusion of trying to stay with a person who is refusing to change inwardly?
Daily we are asked to remain beside individuals out of love because we are told to accept that people do have flaws. Yet at some point those unchanging flaws can destroy a nation if the person is unwilling to fix the matter.
It's so very hard to love someone that doesn't want to change. I mean you may try with all you have to hang in there and help them see the benefits of changing but if they refuse constantly then its rough streets ahead.
No one deserves to be constantly hurt.
That's not a sign of love and nobody should make the mistake of saying you don't love them if you refuse to deal with their mess.
There's only so much a person can take when you refuse to change. It's that issue of loving you but refusing to love the part of you that doesn't want to change.
Too many miss out on love from a loyal individual because they are selfish and want you to just accept them as they are.
Where are the rules that state that I have to love you in your mess? Where are the rules that say while you continue to abuse my love, that I should stay beside you?
That's an unfair situation on love and nobody should have to deal with that.
I truly feel that if you find someone who knows what you are dealing with and still wants to remain beside you to work through it....then you should definitely work hard to change whatever behavior it is that is causing pain in your relationship.
The other side of dealing with someone who refuses to change is that it drives you crazy.
Lets add that they will happily say you are crazy because you are getting fed up with their behavior.
Nothing sucks like giving all of your energy towards helping them better themselves inside & out and they kick you in the face! In other words they have no love or remorse for anything that you have done for them. They purposely & intentionally hurt you because they know that you just might never go anywhere.
Ever met someone like that?
A person that lies constantly about changing but then retreats back to that behavior while demanding you respect their ugliness.
Every person on this earth has a breaking point and that is a major deal breaker in a lot of relationships & marriages.
Nobody has to put up with that. Nobody has to love those unchanging flaws within you.
When you love someone, you change those ugly sides of you. Simply because you want the other person to be happy, and most importantly you desire to be completely happy within.
Don't allow anyone to make you feel like you have to put up with their behavior year after year for the sake of love.
Let it go and set them free. People who refuse to change for you are not for you. You deserve someone who will willingly change things that can harm your heart and the relationship.
Kanye Westappears to be going through a lot of issues lately. Some state that its a lot deeper than just his problems with Beyonce & Jay Z.
Around this time in November of 2007 , he lost his mother Donda West and that lost could be what is triggering his emotions right now during the holiday season.
Some feel its just a series of built up emotions for the artist and maybe it is time for him to pause what he is doing and receive the help he needs. Kanye West is an amazing father so we know that this help is needed in order for him to maintain that positive image for his daughter and not continue with outbursts.
While Kanye West, 38, has achieved incredible success in love and life, the devastating loss of his mother, Donda West, still weighs heavily on Yeezy’s heart. Donda’s passing may have affected him more than anyone thought, because the “All Day” rapper confessed he thinks he’s responsible for her death!
Kanye revealed this personal detail while speaking with Q magazine for their August issue, reports the Daily Mail. Donda passed away due to heart disease following a surgical procedure in 2007. But, Kanye said the fault for her death rests solely on his own shoulders!
“If I had never moved to LA, she’d be alive,” Kayne said. When asked to explain further as to what he meant by that, Yeezy said “I don’t want to go far into it because it would bring me to tears.”
Recently on yesterday the artist was taken to the hospital in handcuffs for a psychiatric evaluation.
Kanye West has been taken to UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.
According to law enforcement sources ... cops responded to a call for a welfare check on Kanye around 1:20 PM PT. He was at his trainer, Harley Pasternak's home at the time and was "acting erratically."
We're told police called L.A. Fire, and by the time paramedics arrived Kanye was calmer ... but still resistant to going to the hospital. We're told everyone -- his management and law enforcement -- convinced him it was best he go. Law enforcement sources tell us Kanye was handcuffed to a gurney during transport to the hospital ... as standard protocol.
We got Pasternak outside his house late Monday evening. If he knows how Kanye's doing, he's not saying much.
Sources connected to Kanye tell us he was getting checked out by one of his doctors for severe sleep deprivation while he was at Pasternak's place ... and someone decided to call police.
The hospitalization comes on the heels of Kanye abruptly cancelling the remainder of his Saint Pablo Tour, and launching into a verbal attack on Jay Z and Beyonce.
As we told you, Kim Kardashian flew to NYC early Monday for her first public event since the Paris robbery ... but she's now officially bailed. It's a good bet she's wheels up for L.A.
